Activities
There is so much to do in the area it is good to plan ahead - especially as many activities can be booked up in advance in busy periods - this is just a small selection of suggestions.
Wildlife and Scenery
Farsain Cruises
Craobh Haven is a spectacular base for wildlife spotting and cruises are available on the Farsain or Jenny Wren amongst others. A half day will take your to the Corryvreckan, Scarba and Jura and a full day will take you to the Garvelachs and beyond. common sights includes Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles and Dolphins with occasional otters and whales.
Gardens
Arduaine Gardens
With the warming effect of the Gulf Stream the area is known for its gardens. Arduaine Gardens nearby is just one of these special places and especially worth a visit in the spring and early summer.
Due to storm damage - check with National Trust - there will be limited opening only this summer.
Castles
Carnasserie Castle
Carnasserie Castle was once a fashionable residence incorporating many of the latest Renaissance influences. It was the home of the first Protestant Bishop of the Isles, Master John Carswell, and its design is befitting of a man of his stature.
A great fun castle with 2 towers, great views and a good walk.
Waterpsorts
Watersports Centre and Cafe
Craobh Haven Watersport Centre offers paddle boarding, sit on kayaks, motor boat hire and sailing. Activities will be severely limited in 2022 for staffing reasons so check prior. Alternatively email Haven House to discuss specific needs and we can see what can be arranged.
Walking and Cycling
Local Routes
Around the Craignish Peninsular there are plenty of routes to keep you busy. Whether it is a mountain cycle over the hill to the Galley of Lorne in Ardfern or a simple walk along the shore or out to the end of the peninsula. there is plenty for all taste. Mountain bikes are available by arrangement at the house.
Dining and Drinking Out
Loch Melfort Hotel
Please be aware that as of 2nd March havebeen made aware that the Lord of the Isles will not reopen until a new owner is found. This is very disappointing however there are other excellent locations - we particularly recomment the Loch Melfort Hotel for an exceptional dinner. There is also the Galley of Lorne over the hill in Ardfern
