House of views

Inspired by the cinematic qualities of the ever changing light over the western sea and islands we have looked to create a unique holiday home with stunning views and an exceptional place to stay in all weather.

Craobh Haven offers access to an incredible diversity of wildlife, watersports, walking and history. Haven House is situated by the Marina and the award winning Lord of the Isles.

Created to offer hotel standards of comfort and style, for families and groups of up to 12. Every room is designed to enjoy views of the mountains and the sea.

In the words of our guests

'A 21st Century Castle'

' Wow! What a house. Congratulations on providing the perfect entertainment space. The whole experience was perfect.'

The pool and sauna were amazing, the game's room is fantastic and the open plan living kitchen area is a brilliant space where everyone can chill together. The views are stunning in any weather.

We just wanted you to know how happy you have helped make 2 families enjoy their time together. Thank you again for allowing us to share your home. We hope to be back at some point.

Activities

There is so much to do in the area it is good to plan ahead - especially as many activities can be booked up in advance in busy periods - this is just a small selection of suggestions.

Farsain Boat Trips & Wildlife

Wildlife and Scenery

Farsain Cruises

Craobh Haven is a spectacular base for wildlife spotting and cruises are available on the Farsain or Jenny Wren amongst others. A half day will take your to the Corryvreckan, Scarba and Jura and a full day will take you to the Garvelachs and beyond. common sights includes Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles and Dolphins with occasional otters and whales.

Arduaine Gardens

Gardens

Arduaine Gardens

With the warming effect of the Gulf Stream the area is known for its gardens. Arduaine Gardens nearby is just one of these special places and especially worth a visit in the spring and early summer.

Due to storm damage - check with National Trust - there will be limited opening only this summer.

Carnasserie castle

Castles

Carnasserie Castle

Carnasserie Castle was once a fashionable residence incorporating many of the latest Renaissance influences. It was the home of the first Protestant Bishop of the Isles, Master John Carswell, and its design is befitting of a man of his stature.

A great fun castle with 2 towers, great views and a good walk.

Temple Wood Neolithic

Neolithic History

Kilmartin Glen

The Kilmartin Glen hosts the most important concentration of Neolithic and Bronze Age remains in mainland Scotland. Sites include ring circles, standing stones and cairns.

Dunadd Fort

The Gaelic Kings

Dunadd Fort

Dunadd Fort rises proudly from Moine Mhor – the ‘great moss’ – an expanse of bog that carpets the southern end of Kilmartin Glen. It was home to a fort 2,000 years ago, and a royal power centre of Gaelic kings in the 500s to 800s AD.

Paddleboarding

Waterpsorts

Watersports Centre and Cafe

Craobh Haven Watersport Centre offers paddle boarding, sit on kayaks, motor boat hire and sailing. Activities will be severely limited in 2022 for staffing reasons so check prior. Alternatively email Haven House to discuss specific needs and we can see what can be arranged.

Mountain Biking

Walking and Cycling

Local Routes

Around the Craignish Peninsular there are plenty of routes to keep you busy. Whether it is a mountain cycle over the hill to the Galley of Lorne in Ardfern or a simple walk along the shore or out to the end of the peninsula. there is plenty for all taste. Mountain bikes are available by arrangement at the house.

Pub and Restaurant

Dining and Drinking Out

Loch Melfort Hotel

The Lord of the Isles will not reopen until a new owner is found. This is very disappointing however there are other excellent options nearby - we particularly recomment the Loch Melfort Hotel for an exceptional dinner. There is also the Galley of Lorne over the hill in Ardfern and Lucy's in Ardfern.

Lucy is also opening a pop up bar and restaurant in the Marina over the summer months
